Police detain male teacher who allegedly punched and kicked female colleague

KUALA TERENGGANU: Police detained a male teacher suspected of assaulting his colleague at a primary school in the Kemaman district yesterday.

Terengganu Police chief Datuk Mazli Mazlan said the 49-year-old suspect was detained at a teacher's quarters around 9.30pm yesterday.

He said that the suspect was then taken to the Kemaman district Police Headquarters for further action.

He said the suspect's arrest followed a report made by the victim, a female teacher, at the Air Putih Police Station at 8.20am yesterday.

"The victim, a 32-year-old English teacher, reported being punched and kicked by the suspect in the school cafeteria at 6.55am.

"The cause of the incident is still under investigation and the case is being investigated under Sections 323/506 of the Penal Code," he said when met after the Opening Ceremony of the Second Session of the 15th State Legislative Assembly (DUN) at Wisma Darul Iman here, today.

Earlier reports stated that a female teacher was injured after being assaulted by a colleague at a primary school in the Kemaman district.
