KPDN Sandakan seizes goods worth over RM1 mil

SANDAKAN: The Sandakan branch of the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry (KPDN) has successfully conducted 54 cases involving various offences with a total seizure value exceeding RM1 million, Sabah Media reported.

The announcement was made by KPDN Sandakan Chief Enforcement Officer Azdy Zukkry John.

Since the start of the year, 1,965 business premises, including 897 in the city and 1,068 in rural areas, have been inspected, resulting in 30 compounds totaling RM6,100, two court cases with fines of RM20,000, and 46 complaints received and 43 resolved.

KPDN Sandakan will continue special inspection operations at major consumer markets to ensure traders comply with enforced laws.

A recent inspection at the Batu 8 Market aimed to verify compliance with the Weights and Measures Act 1972 and the Price Control and Anti-Profiteering Act 2011, with all checked traders found to be using certified scales and displaying clear price tags.

Warning notices on price tagging were distributed as reminders to comply with the Price Control and Anti-Profiteering Act 2011.
