MACC probe into Perlis MB's son 'political drama' for KKB, claims Sanusi

KUALA LUMPUR: Perikatan Nasional's Datuk Seri Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor has accused the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission of selective prosecution over a probe into the Perlis Menteri Besar's (MB) son.

According to a report in Pas organ, Harakah Daily, Sanusi said the arrest of the MB's son was part of a "political drama" for the Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election.

"That's just drama for the by-election, everyone knows that it's not a secret. We just laugh it off," he said when asked to comment on the arrest of Perlis MB Mohd Shukri Ramli's son.

Sanusi, the PN election director said efforts to eradicate corruption should not be focused on the opposition alone.

"There are a lot of cases in (government-controlled) states but there are no probes?" he claimed, adding that MACC should not focus only on certain states.

"It's selective prosecution, it's a joke," he said, adding however the "drama" would not disadvantage PN.

NST has contacted MACC for comment on Sanusi's claims.

Earlier this week, it was reported that the son of the Perlis MB, who is also the son-in-law to Pas president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang, was among six individuals remanded by MACC.

The anti-graft agency is probing alleged forgery in connection to false claims amounting to RM600,000.

The claims are related to infrastructure projects such as repairs, maintenance, supply, and services all over Perlis from 2022.

Those arrested have been released on bail.
