Farmer dad couldn't fulfill children's wish in tragic twist of fate

KUALA KRAI: Farmer Juhazrie Junoh, the driver of a four-wheel-drive vehicle who was killed in a crash near here at midnight, has never forgotten to bring home some corn for his three children every time he went to Perak.

According to his sisterJuhasninaini, the 37-year-old would either bring back boiled or raw corn for his three small children.

"His kids will not ask for anything more from their father except corn. They really love to eat corn that their father had bought from Perak.

"This time, they also asked the same and their father had fulfilled their wish, but failed to deliver it to them when he died in the crash," said the 48-year-old at the Kuala Krai Hospital mortuary.

She said her brother would normally go to Perak with his best friends to buy machines for his padi field.

Juhasninaini, who was accompanied by her eldest sister Juhaslina, 54, said the family had accepted their brother's death as fate.

"When we received the call around 3am this morning, we immediately rushed to the hospital.

"We did not tell our 76-year-old mother Asiah Ibrahim about the death of her youngest son due to her health condition," she said.

Juhaslina said apart from the three children aged 5 to 9, Juhazrie also left behind a newborn.

"The baby girl who we nicknamed 'Wara' was born 40 days ago and his (Juhazrie) wife, Ariatul Laili Omar, 35, is still in confinement.

"She was very sad over the loss and we have to calm her down this morning," she said.

Juhazrie was among four people killed when his vehicle collided with another four-wheel-drive vehicle at Km78 of Jalan Kota Baru-Gua Musang.

Juhazrie's passenger, Muhamad Anif Mat Jizi, 41, was also killed together with two women from the other vehicle named Noor Hayati Harun, 40, and Samsiah Man, 60.

Four others travelling in both vehicles sustained injuries in the crash.
