Rabies vaccination, licensing and microchip programme for dogs announced in Kuching

KUCHING: The local community is set to benefit from a comprehensive anti-rabies vaccination, licensing, and microchipping programme for dogs, the Sarawak Public Communications Unit revealed in a Facebook post.

Scheduled for 26 April, the initiative will take place at Dewan Masyarakat Sungai Maong from 9am to 4pm.

This public health campaign, crucial for controlling the spread of rabies, offers free vaccinations for dogs. Additionally, microchipping services, which are vital for pet identification and recovery if lost, will be provided without charge.

Dog owners are required to bring their pet's identification card and vaccination card if available. The event organisers have emphasised the importance of bringing dogs that are healthy, not pregnant, and at least three months old. For the safety of all, dogs must be kept on a leash at all times during the event.

The programme aims to register dogs that have yet to be licensed at a nominal fee of RM10 for spayed or neutered dogs and RM30 for those that are not.
