Chery to recall 600 units of Omoda 5 for detailed inspection [NSTTV]

WUHU: Chery Auto Malaysia (Chery) will reach out to 600 potentially affected customers following a broken rear axle issue in its sports utility vehicle (SUV) model.

Chery, in a statement, said that following a complaint posted on social media, it has put in place a precautionary measure for potentially affected vehicles.

"The customer-reported issue highlighted on Facebook recently was determined to be an isolated case.

"We have promptly addressed this concern by replacing the rear axle beam component, conducted comprehensive quality control tests on the affected vehicle, and we can confirm that the matter has been successfully resolved."

It also said that it had reached out to the parts vendor involved and have done an in-depth analysis.

As such, Chery confirmed that 600 vehicles are potentially affected in the exercise.

"As a precautionary measure, Chery Auto Malaysia will be reaching out to customers of the affected Vehicle Identification Numbers (VIN) for a detailed inspection to resolve all technical component issues.

"A website to cater to this precautionary measure will be in place for all Omoda 5 customers to confirm that their vehicles are not affected," it said.

Chery also assured that no other vehicles are affected.

Yesterday, the Chinese automaker said it will be looking into the issue and has contacted the customer involved.

This comes after a woman took to social media yesterday to voice out her complaint after the axle of her Chery Omoda 5 SUV had snapped clean off whilst driving.
