MADINAH, (Saudi Arabia) : Due to its exceptional track record in delivering healthcare services to pilgrims, Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH) has once again received authorisation to operate the Madinah Medical Centre for the third consecutive year.
Dr. Mahyin Kudong, the director of operations for Madinah (Medical), disclosed that the Madinah Medical Centre at Roha Hotel will commence operations today (May 6), furnished with 33 beds, including emergency observation wards.
Mahyin, who is also the state Health senior deputy director for Perlis, highlighted that the centre is equipped with emergency medical care facilities, X-ray units, basic laboratory testing, and support services such as physiotherapy and nutrition specialists.
"The medical centre will be staffed by five doctors, including two emergency specialists, a public health specialist, and an anesthetist. The anesthetist will also be responsible for monitoring and supervising if pilgrims need to be referred to Saudi Arabian hospitals.
"TH is also opening two clinics in Movenpick Hotel and Emmar Royal Hotel, each led by a family medicine specialist assisted by two doctors," he said at a press conference here yesterday (May 5).
He mentioned that the clinics' scope of tasks include outpatient care and initial emergency treatment, although critical cases will be promptly referred to the Madinah Medical Centre or Saudi Arabian hospitals if necessary.
He indicated that the medical team would consist of a total of 53 individuals during peak periods, which includes six specialist doctors, 16 nurses, and additional medical assistants, along with seasonal Hajj staff appointed by TH.
He emphasised that although the medical centre will primarily operate during office hours, they will always be ready to serve pilgrims around the clock.
Meanwhile, with the current hot and dry weather in the Holy Land, he urged pilgrims to take proactive self-care, as it is typical for pilgrims to experience symptoms like coughs and sore throats, along with skin issues due to dehydration, which can lead to skin cracking and itching.
"Moreover, many experience a reduced appetite due to mouth ulcers," he said.
Regarding Covid-19, he stated that no specific preparations are being made since the disease has been declared endemic. — BERNAMA
