Penampang introduces CARE4U clinic for adolescents

PENAMPANG: The newly-opened Klinik CARE4U at Klinik Kesihatan Penampang is part of an initiative aligned with the clinic's nomination for 'Best Practice' in Adolescent Services by the Health Ministry this year, Sabah Media reported.

Penampang district health officer Dr Lim Kai Joo said Klinik CARE4U, which started operating in February, caters specifically to adolescents aged 10 to 19, focusing on their comprehensive well-being covering physical, social, mental, and spiritual aspects,

The announcement was made during the District-Level Adolescent Health Carnival in Penampang, which was inaugurated by Penampang MP and Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister Datuk Ewon Benedick.

Lim said Klinik CARE4U was fully committed to addressing adolescent health issues and hopes that this initiative will increase awareness among young people about the importance of health care.

"To make adolescent health services more effective, collaboration with government agencies and NGOs is essential.

"The CARE4U Squad has been officially appointed to engage and connect with adolescents within their communities, ensuring that this collaborative effort between Klinik Kesihatan Penampang and the CARE4U Squad will yield significant benefits in the future," he said.

Ewon also commented on the initiative, welcoming efforts by the ministry and specifically the Sabah State Health Department in launching the Klinik Mesra Remaja at Klinik Kesihatan Penampang.

"This aligns with the Adolescent Health Policy introduced in 2001, and I urge parents in Penampang and surrounding areas to take advantage of these services. Hopefully, these services will achieve the objectives we have set," he added.
