Kajang town centre hit by flash floods

KAJANG: Incessant rain this evening caused flash floods in several parts of the Kajang town centre.

Videos shared on social media showed various parts of the town submerged in flood waters.

The affected areas included Jalan Raja Haroun and Jalan Sri Jelok, in the direction of the Kajang Prison.

Based on the videos shared on social media, several cars were also seen stranded in the flood waters.

On social media platform X, several users cautioned others against venturing into Kajang due to the floods.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department deputy director (operations) Mukhlis Mukhtar said firemen rescued a senior citizen whose house in Jalan Melur 1, Sungai Kantan here was submerged in flood waters.

He said they were alerted to the incident at 6.04pm.

He said seven firemen and two fire engines from the Kajang fire station were sent to the location.

"The firemen then rescued an 86-year-old woman whose house had been inundated in ankle-deep waters," he said in a statement.
