PM expresses sadness over Brazil flooding [NSTTV]

KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim expressed his sadness today over the catastrophic flooding that occurred in Brazil.

Anwar said Malaysia is prepared to assist if needed to alleviate the suffering of those affected by the incident.

"Azizah and I are deeply saddened by the catastrophic flooding that has happened in Brazil.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with the people of Brazil, especially those affected. We stand ready to provide assistance to ease the burden of those victims," he said in X post today.

Earlier, it was reported that the death toll from devastating floods that have ravaged southern Brazil for days surpassed 100 on Wednesday, authorities said, as the search for dozens of missing people was interrupted by fresh storms.

Some 400 municipalities have been affected by the worst natural calamity ever to hit the state of Rio Grande do Sul, with hundreds of people injured and more than 160,000 forced from their homes.
