Only one non-subsidised petrol station approved in Kelantan for now, says state KPDN director

BACHOK: The Finance Ministry has rejected the application of a fuel station operator to set-up a non-subsidised petrol station in Jeli near here, Kelantan Domestic Trade and Cost of Living director Azman Ismail said.

The station in Jeli was supposed to be the second premises offering non-subsidised petrol in the state.

The ministry, said Azman, cited various reasons for rejecting the application, including concerns about potential misappropriation or misuse of government-subsidised fuel.

"l would like to confirm that the Finance Ministry has decided not to approve the application for the implementation of the second non-subsidised petrol station in Jeli," he told reporters after the launching of the 'Menu Rahmah' programme in Jelawat near here today.

Azman said the other non-subsidised fuel station in state, located in Rantau Panjang, is 20 per cent away to be completed.

"This petrol station is located about 4km from the Rantau Panjang Immigration, Customs, Quarantine and Security (ICQS) complex," he said.

The non-subsidised petrol station initiative is one of the many efforts by the ministry to prevent leakage of the government-subsidised petrol and diesel to foreign motorists.

On today's event, Azman said the restaurant in Jelawat was the latest to adopt the 'Menu Rahmah' concept.

"So far, a total of 132 restaurant operators in the state have registered with the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living to offer 'Menu Rahmah' at their premises by offering food below RM5," he said.
