Kelana Jaya LRT line users fume over delay in journey, overcrowded trains

KUALA LUMPUR: Light rail transit (LRT) users have taken to social media to vent their frustration over the service disruption involving the LRT Kelana Jaya line this morning.

They said the disruption not only caused delays in the services but also led to overcrowding at the affected LRT stations and on the trains, resulting in them arriving late at their destinations.

Among them included social media user @ftnsyhnf

"The trains were so crowded. I couldn't even board the first one and had to wait for the next.

"But waiting wasn't easy as many of the passing trains were out of service," she lamented.

Farah Iman Nuraina, 23, a passenger from Jelatek, recounted a similar experience at her station.

"The platform was overcrowded, with people even spilling onto the stairs.

"I waited for over half an hour. Despite more than seven trains passing by, not a single one had room for me," she said.

Social media user @dklittlestar said it usually takes her 10 minutes to travel from Subang Jaya to Ara Damansara.

However, due to the disruption in LRT train services, her journey stretched from 10 minutes to 35 minutes.

"I arrived at the Subang Jaya platform at 8.25am and reached Ara Damansara at 9am.

"Normally, it's just a 10-minute ride, but due to the delay, it stretched to 35 minutes."

It was reported that the Kelana Jaya LRT faced delays due to a disruption in the track switch system, forcing the trains to operate manually from Kelana Jaya Station to Taman Bahagia.

The disruption also caused the trains to move at reduced speeds and experience longer stops at each platform.

According to the Rapid KL Facebook page, repair work to rectify the track switch issue is currently in progress.
