KUALA LUMPUR: A video capturing the ceiling at Kuala Lumpur Sentral (KL Sentral) seemingly leaking profusely due to stormy weather has stirred public concerns.
The video, originally posted on the social media platform 'X' by user @anaszack, vividly showcases water cascading through the roof, leading to a pooling of water on the floor, particularly near the escalator connecting KL Sentral to the MRT Muzium Negara station.
This post swiftly went viral, amassing over 215,000 views, and drew many sarcastic remarks, highlighting the evident decay of the once prestigious transportation hub.
Some even drew unfavourable comparisons between KL Sentral's situation and the acclaimed Changi Airport in Singapore.
And some netizens claimed this wasn't the first ceiling leakage involving such stations.
User @skyflyingace commented: "In fact, many MRT stations in KL are leaking. I've been pondering this myself. Compared to MRT Singapore, Singapore is ahead. Why can't we follow suit? Why can't we address the recurring leakage problems?"
Another user, @keropokkardash, said: "That looks really bad. The MRT Kajang Line opened six years ago, but this important part of the infrastructure is already leaking. Absolute shame."
In addition to these concerns, safety apprehensions are looming large.
There are worries that the water infiltration could pose risks such as electrical hazards or structural instability.
