#NSTviral: Netizens irked by male passenger's deplorable attitude on LRT

KUALA LUMPUR: A post on X (formerly known as Twitter) showing a passenger seated on an LRT (Light Rail Transit) train with his bag occupying the seat next to him has irked netizens.

A user on X using the handle @annoyedmsian shed light on the man's bad behaviour by sharing a post about his inconsiderate behaviour... "Beware of this inconsiderate guy on the LRT! Someone asked him to remove his bag from the seat & he made a face & refused. If you're gonna be a jerk on the train, you deserve to be called out publicly." With the hashtag #rapidkl.

Another user, @fiq_ramli, wrote, "I've met these kind of people. I would just lift up his bag. Do not hesitate. Just do it. Poeple like him there's no need to ask politely.

@cahhh97 commented, "Don't be selfish like this. Pity those who really need a seat to sit. Even though there are no pregnant women or senior citizens around, do not do this! Because there are many others who need to sit."

Another netizen, @jjkrn_ wrote, "One of the many reasons why I don't prefer taking public transport to go to work."

Apart from hogging seats on a public transport system with a high volume of passengers, some netizens shared that the male passenger also ate food such as eating raw asparagus and even peeled garlic which is prohibited, apart from taking his shoes off.

According to the Rapid KL website, any passengers that flout or breaks the rules such as eating inside the train, behaving badly, or dirtying Rapid KL's properties can be fined or prohibited from entering or remaining in a station.

Rapid KL issued a statement informing that their auxiliary police personnel apprehended the man recently and issued him with a stern warning.

"He promised not to repeat the act," said RapidKL.

Rapid KL added that their auxiliary police personnel on duty constantly patrol and monitor the trains and the stations in the event that any commuters require assistance.

However, they stopped short of saying if they would take any further action if the man keeps on behaving inconsiderately.

As of time of publication, the post on X was reposted 6,750 times, with 2,196 quotes and 8,221 likes.
