#NSTviral: Netizens slam video owner for prioritising content instead of doing the right thing

KUALA LUMPUR: A Facebook user who shot a video of a woman filling the wrong fuel in her Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) has attracted criticism and drew the ire of netizens.

In the video that was uploaded on the night of December 15 (Friday), the proprietor of the video (Kenny Kong) who spoke in a Chinese dialect (Mandarin) recorded the video of the woman who seemingly filled diesel in the fuel tank of the Proton X50 SUV that she was driving which runs on petrol.

A Facebook user Charles Stephen Wan Emang wrote, "I get very angry when people who take pictures and videos do not acknowledge and let the other person know that they are doing something wrong. This is the mindset of people nowadays... viral, viral, viral."

Malisa Chayeng-Armstrong wrote that the proprietors of the video could have tried to warn her.

"Instead of you videoing her why don't you say something to her?"

In agreeing and responding to Malisa's comment, Genevieve Tan wrote, "I just wanted to comment this also. I hope the person taking the video can think about helping instead of just sharing on social media to get it viral."

Another Facebook user, MikeWinnie MW commented, "Should alight from your car and ask her why fill diesel rather than just keep recording the video and do nothing to prevent such a miserable thing from carrying on, sometimes a little kindness will be appreciated."

Facebook user by the name of Balqish Aqish wrote that those shooting the video could have warned her that she was filling the wrong fuel as perhaps she did not know any better.

"Could have stopped her before she placed the pump in, but gonna have the chance to viral someone and their plate number without consent," wrote Balqis.

WH Hoo was another who was displeased with the video and left this comment, "Why? You don't let the driver know what's happening. You should stop her, not record the video."

There were also some netizens who poked fun at the video, as Facebook user Addy Rothschild commented, " Don't stop her. Women are never wrong."

Another, Arep Permasalahan wrote,"Subsidised so waste if not used."

As of the time of publication, the video has more than 2,300 likes, attracted more than 1,100 comments and with more than 6,100 shares.
