Video of foreigners illegally peddling grilled corn near KLCC sparks outrage [WATCH]

KUALA LUMPUR: A video depicting a pair of foreigners illegally selling grilled corn on the side of the road near KLCC has sparked outrage among netizens on social media.

The video, posted by @isusemasaviral on the X platform, vividly showcased a worker preparing the corn while the other worked on the grilling.

In the caption, the account user urged authorities, including Federal Territories Minister Dr Zaliha Mustafa, to take the necessary action.

"Please arrest these people. They are grilling corn right in front of KLCC and they're producing so much smoke and waste.

"The Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) needs to go on patrols every night. You can't just wait for people to complain first."

The video garnered more than 1.2 million views, sparking widespread public frustration and outrage.

User @Hazary10 emphasised that social media complaints alone were insufficient in making any changes but required effective enforcement.

"Don't turn the focal points around KL into places like in other countries where they allow people to do as they please.

"Things won't change if we only complain on social media but enforcement is not effective," he added.

User @amir_afiq commented: "Even beside Ampang Park station is cluttered with illegal businesses operating on the walkway. Those using baby strollers or wheelchairs have to use the road to walk."

"They're clever at finding opportunities. They know that there's a lot of foot traffic in the area. So the chances of sales are high," said user @azharirahim.

The New Straits Times has reached out to City Hall for comments.
