#NSTviral: PTPTN puts up Facebook post taking swipe at study loan defaulters

KUALA LUMPUR: The National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN) put up a sarcastic post on Facebook today in the form of a "missing persons poster" on borrowers who have "vanished" after completing their tertiary education.

The post, which was uploaded about 4pm, also carried the message: "If found, please tag and convince, coax the missing borrowers to pay back their PTPTN loans".

The post had a description inviting netizens to tag anyone they know who have not repaid their PTPTN study loans.

"Do any of you have any friends who disappear and vanish like this? Haa do tag them below ya.

"Min (Admin) is not trying to catch them, just want to help to get them to pay back their PTPTN study loans. The discount for paying back has already ended. So please help to find such 'friends'.

"P/S: If you want to tag yourself also can."

Needless to say, many netizens left their comments after coming across the post.

There were those who criticised those who did not pay, and even some who admitted to being guilty of defaulting on the loans while giving excuses.

One netizen using the profile name Adeline Ho commented that those borrowers who have not repaid their study loans should be blacklisted.

"Coax?! This is the part that really makes me angry. Blacklist all of them, take serious action and let them learn their lessons," she commented.

Another netizen using the profile name Saleh Bin Zuhri, commented that he wanted to repay his study loan, but then there were some issues which prevented him from doing so.

"I really wanted to pay, but every time I wanted to there was a reschedule, and it was quite a big amount. Is there an easier way to reschedule for payment? I really want to start repaying," he commented.

Meanwhile, user Liyana Sabri wrote, "Alhamdulillah, I have settled my PTPTN debt by using the money i got from i-Sinar, and there was even a discount when I went to settle what I owed. I hope those who are in the process of settling and paying off their PTPTN debts will be able to so with ease."

As of time of writing, the post has garnered more than 800 likes, attracted more than 230 comments, and with more than 180 shares.
