KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Dr Salleh Said Keruak has slammed former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad over his blog posting on Thursday which claims that Malaysia has been labelled as amongst the ten most corrupt countries in the world.
The Communications and Multimedia Minister said that on Jan 24, CNBC came out with a report mentioning that the ten most corrupt countries in the world are Somalia, South Sudan, North Korea, Syria, Yemen, Sudan, Libya, Afghanistan, Guinea-Bissau and Venezuela.
"The New York Times also came out with its report on Dec 9, 2016, more or less saying the same thing, as did the Independent of the United Kingdom on Jan 25, 2017; and Fortune.com on the same day.
"Last month, on March 14, 2017, CheatSheet came out with the 15 most corrupt countries in the world and still Malaysia was not on the list," Salleh countered in a post on his blog, sskeruak.blogspot.my, yesterday.
He also noted that Ranker.com came out with “the most corrupt countries list” based on Transparency International's report, and Malaysia was not even in the top 100.
"So where did Mahathir get his facts from? Has someone been feeding him false news?," Salleh said. -- BERNAMA
