KUALA LUMPUR: Umno members at all levels must be active and vocal on social media, Cheras Umno division chief Datuk Seri Syed Ali Alhabshee said today.
He said he has noticed a lack of defence from grassroots members when allegations are hurled against the party on the internet.
"It is not the duty of party leaders only, but all members.
"If we keep mum when the party gets ambushed online, we look weak, so make use of your smartphones and be vocal," he said today.
Syed Ali reminded Umno members that as the government's backbone, the party will continue to receive criticism, especially from the opposition.
"Correct what is wrong. Don't let others say false things about us.
"If they destroy Umno, they will destroy Malaysia," he said after opening the Cheras Umno wing’s divisional delegates' meeting at the Berjaya Times Square Hotel here.
