Kit Siang: Urban, rural tsunami needed for opposition to win GE14

MELAKA: DAP advisor Lim Kit Siang said an urban and rural political tsunami will be required this time around for the opposition to take over Putrajaya.

He said this was because an "undemocratic system" had caused the opposition to lose the previous general elections.

He hinted that the urban and rural political tsunami would be a major phenomenon in the impending polls, which would inflict political change in Putrajaya.

He said the last 10 days since the Pakatan Harapan announced its new structure and logo, there were changes in the people's reception of the opposition alliance.

"The last 10 days have been very critical, where we started seeing differences in the public's attitude and hope for change," said Lim.

"They (the people) rooted for change during the last elections. Although the majority of the people voted for a change, however, the system was undemocratic and unfair.

"People are eager to see a change this coming elections."

Lim today visited former DAP secretary general Kerk Kim Hock at the Mahkota Medical Centre, who was undergoing treatment for a kidney ailment last week.

Also present were DAP vice chairman Teresa Kok and state opposition chief Khoo Poay Tiong.

Meanwhile, Lim conceded that the opposition has been divided since Pas broke away, causing the disintegration of Pakatan Rakyat.

"Those who supported change last election should come out to battle with us," he said.

"In this coming general elections, it is possible to change the occupants of Putrajaya with a new federal government, a Pakatan Harapan government," he added.
