I am not quitting Umno: Ayub Jamil

BATU PAHAT: Rengit assemblyman Ayub Jamil has denied that he plans to quit Umno and join Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM).

He said he had never met with Batu Pahat PPBM chief Mohd Zaid Mohd Yusof let alone discuss such a matter with him.

"The statement by MalaysiaKini and Gabungan Bersatu Johor on this matter was slanderous and made with bad intention. I will never quit Umno.

"I have been the Rengit assemblyman for three terms and Umno will continue to be my platform to help the people," said Ayub.

He said this after attending the opening of the Parit Sulong Umno delegates meeting by Umno vice president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

On Friday, Gabungan Bersatu Johor, on it's Facebook page, announced that Ayub would be joining PPBM after meeting with Zaid.

Asked if he would be taking any more action, Ayub said he would wait and see.

On Thursday, Senggarang assemblyman Abdul Aziz Ismail also denied that he is quitting Umno to join PPBM.

In a MalaysiaKini report, he said his loyalty towards Umno and BN should not be questioned.

“Definitely not (quitting Umno). My loyalty to Umno and BN should not be questioned.

“The allegation is nonsense. I am proud to be a BN state assemblyman. Full stop,” Abdul Aziz said in the report.

Malaysiakini had reported a claim by Zaid that he had met a state assemblyman from Batu Pahat who is “showing interest on jumping party” following a supposed pressure from colleagues attempting to wrest his “position.”
