'PPBM quitters Anina, Hamidah should not make noise'

JOHOR BARU: Johor Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) secretary Datuk Osman Sapian said the two women leaders who quit the party yesterday should not make too much noise upon their departure.

He said founding member Anina Saadudin’s accusation of cronyism in PPBM and her blaming party secretary-general Datuk Dr Shahruddin Md Salleh for not informing her about her dismissal as the women wing’s chief last December were excuses.

He said since PPBM’s inception, Anina did not have anything to show for in terms of the work she did for the women’s wing.

“Empty vessels make the most noise. If you are sincere and want to leave, just leave. We’ll continue the struggle, but she does not need to membebel (rant) to gain popularity,” said Osman, a former Umno member who was Kempas assemblyman prior to the 2013 general election.

He said PPBM vice-president Datuk Hamidah Osman’s resignation yesterday was no loss for the party either.

“Hamidah may be well versed in local Perak politics as she was a former state executive councillor, but she lacks the grasp on national-level politics, which is what is needed to woo younger voters.”
