Dr M dragging us back to political stone age, says Azwan Harun

KUALA LUMPUR: Umno Youth today said Pakatan Harapan does not have strong principles, is without direction and lacks a main leader.

Its deputy chief Senator Khairul Azwan Harun said this was apparent during the Pakatan Harapan-led ‘Anti-Kleptocracy Rally’ in Padang Timur, Petaling Jaya on Saturday.

“While Malaysia is trying to tackle polarisation within our society, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad is continuously trying to drag us back to the political stone age by making personal attacks against the country’s leader,” he said in a statement today.

He also said to this day, Pakatan Harapan has yet to decide its prime minister-designate.

“It is obvious that Pakatan Harapan does not have a comprehensive plan on what they want to do if they form the (next) federal government.”

Khairul said despite holding the most number of seats in Parliament, DAP was using Dr Mahathir’s influence to win the support of the Malay voters.

“He (Dr Mahathir) is just a puppet.

“The same goes with (Dr Mahathir’s son) Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir, who only dares to contest safe seats currently controlled by DAP,” he added.

During Saturday night’s rally, Dr Mahathir, who is also Pakatan Harapan pro-tem chairman, had accused Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak of being the enemy of the state.

The rally saw the participation of between 5,000 and 6,000 people. Its organisers had previously aimed to mobilise 100,000 rally-goers.

Dr Mahathir, DAP advisor Lim Kit Siang and Parti Amanah Negara president Mohamad Sabu were among dozens of opposition bigwigs who delivered speeches that night.

The rally’s organisers had insisted on holding the event in Padang Timur despite not receiving police approval.
