Azmin Ali has double standards, says Noh Omar

PUTRAJAYA: Selangor Umno today urged Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali to stop politicising the probe by Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) into illegal activities in the state.

Selangor Umno chief Tan Sri Noh Omar said by politicising the case, it showed that Azmin practice double standards.

"I am not surprised if Azmin alleges that the arrest of his nephew to facilitate the probe is politically motivated.

"When the MACC or police arrest people from Barisan Nasional or Umno, he will say they are doing a good job. But when his own people are arrested, he will say it is politically motivated.

"MACC carries out its work professionally and will take action against anyone involved in corruption, regardless of political parties," he told reporters after attending the Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government Ministry's assembly, today.

On Thursday, four people including Azmin’s nephew were remanded for seven days for alleged involvement in illegal sand and gravel-mining activities in Selangor.

MACC chief commissioner Tan Sri Dzulkifli Ahmad had reportedly said the arrest was not based on political affiliation.

Noh said Azmin should stop blowing up the issue and let MACC investigate the case.

"This is the reason why former Selangor menteri besar like Tan Sri Mat Taib (Muhammad Muhammad Taib) and Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim have decided to support Umno.

"Azmin wants the Selangor people to believe that only PKR is capable to administer the state.

"That is his political game. That's why his predecessors , who were previously from the opposition, are now are on our (Umno) side.

"They see Umno as transparent and committed to fighting for Malays and Islam," said Noh.
