Umno on war footing to face Mother of all elections

KUALA LUMPUR: Umno President Datuk Seri Najib Razak has sounded the election war drums, making clarion call to Umno stalwarts in his policy speech today to unite and work towards delivering a landslide victory for the coalition in the looming polls.

In his fiery presidential policy address to invoke the fighting spirit for the 14th general election, which he described as Father of all elections, the prime minister laid out five key thrusts for the party to win big in the polls .

Najib stressed that Umno members whom he equates as warriors, need to maintain decorum and to work as a team as the election fever reaches its peak.

He called on Wanita, Youth and Puteri wings to consolidate their strength to form a formidable force to fight off the opposition.

When rallying the call to battle, the 2,718 delegates who filled Dewan Merdeka in the PWTC gave their president a standing ovation with fists in the air signalling their readiness.

Najib wanted members to move with confidence on the premise that they were on the right path.

"This means everyone in Umno and BN is a family. We need to move with a winning mentality and move without fear or doubt," he said.

Najib also wanted members to act fast and overcome all challenges in a family spirit.

"Members must be ready to defend the party in the cyber and digital world as cyber troopers.

"If we fail to dominate the cyber and digital world, all that we have fought for will mean nothing.

"Cyber warfare must not be left to certain groups. We have three million members and BN has seven million. Each and everyone is a cyber trooper," he said.

Najib also he urged members to pledge loyalty and obedience to directives and instructions from the leadership.

"When a candidate is nominated do not boycott or sabotage but pledge undivided allegiance and support.

"From this second onwards we must be committed as we enter the battle field with a resolve to win big in the 14th general election," he added.
