We will never forget Anwar, says DAP

SHAH ALAM: Ahead of major expectations on Pakatan Harapan pact's announcement on its prime minister candidate, DAP says it has never sidelined PKR de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as among the pact's top leader.

DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng in his speech at the pact's convention today said Anwar had done much in leading the opposition's election machinery during national polls in 2013.

"DAP is always with Anwar. We will never forget him. But if we want to defeat Barisan Nasional which now has an ally in Pas, we need to pool all of our resources together."

Lim also congratulated PKR and Parti Amanah Negara for putting aside "past sentiments" and work together instead.

Yesterday, PKR president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail said the pact has yet to finalise its prime minister candidate.

This is on the heels of speculation that Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad would be made as the candidate, instead of Anwar.
