'Pakatan choice for prime minister shows it is not good enough to run country'

KUCHING: Pakatan Harapan is only bent on coming to power rather than championing the struggles of the people.

Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri James Jemut Masing said such aims showed they were not good enough to administer the country.

“So, all they want is to bring down our prime minister and have their own lead the country? Nothing is being done in the interests of the people. Pakatan Harapan is (just) a collection of disgruntled politicians who have different aspirations.

“They may sleep in the same bed but have different dreams (with personal agendas behind them). And, once they wake up and see the political realities around them, they will fight each other for positions and never (fight) for the people,” said the Parti Rakyat Sarawak president and vocal senior state Barisan Nasional (BN) leader.

Another Sarawak BN leader, Semop assemblyman Abdullah Saidol, shared the same sentiments.

“I think the opposition wants nothing but to change the BN-led government... (they don’t want) to move forward for a more dynamic and prosperous Malaysia that is free from corruption.

“Why have they named (Pakatan Harapan chairman Tun) Dr Mahathir (Mohamad) as candidate for prime minister now? He is someone they used to claim to be the most corrupted leader in political history. How ironic.

“I don’t think a party with such cloddish structures of leadership is capable of bringing any (good) changes to the country,” said the chief political secretary to the chief minister.

Many rural areas in the country, he said, were still seeking more development, which could only be realised by a responsible and stable government.

“At the same time, we need unity and peace amongst members of our multi-ethnic society, so we cannot rely on Pakatan to bring us hope and changes as their leaders are well known for their bigotry, racism and mischief,” he said.
