PAN Kelantan unhappy, disappointed over PH seat allocation

KOTA BARU: Kelantan Parti Amanah Negara (PAN) is unhappy over the Parliamentary seat allocation it had received, compared to other seats it’s allies received in Pakatan Harapan (PH).

PAN’s state chairman Datuk Wan Abdul Rahim Wan Abdullah, said despite its party members unhappiness, it has not choice but to adhere to the directive set by PH leadership.

"The decision was made through a consensus by all leaders including those from PAN.

"It is not true, if we (state PAN) are not upset with the decision, as PAN was given the smallest seat allocation compared to other parties.

Wan Abdul Rahim was commenting on Pakatan's announcement of seat allocations among its members on Sunday.

PAN will contest only 27 Parliamentary seats in the peninsula, which contrasts with Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM), which will fight for 52. PKR and DAP were allotted 51 and 35 seats, respectively.

“We have to accept it with open heart for the sake of the party and its members," he said when met here today.

Although clearly disappointed, Wan Abdul Rahim said they could not do anything to change the decision.

"If we are given a chance, we will like the leaders to reconsider their decision and give us more seats but we are helpless," he said.

On the number of parliamentary seats for the state PAN allocated by its party's leaders, he said PAN would be contesting at five parliamentary seats in the state.

The seats are Kota Baru, Pengkalan Chepa, Kubang Kerian, Rantau Panjang and Kuala Krai.

"The Kuala Krai parliamentary seat is the latest that we decided in a meeting early today.

"We hope will gain victory in Kuala Krai despite there will be a tough fight there," he said.
