Kelantan will be left out again if Dr M becomes PM, says Pas man

KOTA BARU: Kelantan will be left out again if former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad leads the country.

Kelantan Pas secretary Datuk Che Abdullah Mat Nawi said he believed a similar situation, like what had happened during Dr Mahathir’s 22-year tenure as the prime minister, would happen to the state.

“During his time as prime minister, and also when he was the Umno president, Kelantan was like as step-child to the federal government.

“The government then denied the state government’s requests for a new port, an international airport as well as the East-Coast Highway, which only stopped in Terengganu.

“He also denied the Kelantan government’s right for the royalty payment and had sent a letter, warning the Pas-led state government against any attempt to introduce the Islamic laws or hudud,” he said.

“The current Barisan Nasional-led government is led by Umno, which claims that the party fights for the Malays. Therefore, I hoped they can give better opportunities to the Malay society here.” he said.
