KANGAR: Pas spiritual leader Hashim Jasin is expected to make a comeback in the 14th General Election (GE14).
He is likely to lock horns against Perlis Umno liaison committee chairman Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim for the Arau parliamentary seat.
The matter was revealed by state Pas commissioner Mohd Shukri Ramli, here, today.
The late Pas spiritual leader, Datuk Haron Din contested the Arau seat in the 2004, 2008 and 2013 genereal election editions.
"The last time Hashim contested was in the 12th general election for the Sanglang state seat. God willing, he will contest again in Arau”.
However, the clash between the two leaders can only materialise if Shahidan, who is the minister in the Prime Minister’s Department and the incumbent decides to defend the seat.
Hashim first contested the Arau Parliament seat in the 1998 by-election and he won the seat with majority votes of 1,323 after defeating Barisan Nasional candidate Datuk Ismail Kassim.
Shukri said for the coming GE14, he believes that there will be a three-way contest between BN, Pas and also Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) for the seat.
