Najib: Choose based on who had brought about the most development

KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak has advised Malaysians to make their choice at the polls, between the government and the opposition.

He said Malaysians should make their decisions based on who has brought about the most development.

While urging them not to spoil their votes in the 14th General Elections (GE14), Najib said the best choice was extremely clear.

“There are definitely weaknesses on both sides but if people cannot make an assessment based on weaknesses then it is better to choose based on the development brought on by either side.”

Najib was referring to #UndiRosak, a movement to spoil votes formed by disenchanted youths who do not see the benefit of voting for either BN or Pakatan Harapan and opt to spoil votes as an opportunity to voice their frustration.

“Unlike the opposition’s proposed plans, many infrastructural development projects such as the Mass Rapid Transit project, Penang Second Bridge, Tun Razak Exchange 106, KL118, Urban and Rural Transformation Centres, Kota Iskandar, East Coast Rail Link and High-Speed Rail had been and will be carried out by the government,” said Najib in a blogpost yesterday.

Additionally, he said the government had also created more employment and business opportunities, on top of introducing programmes to increase the people's purchasing power.

He elaborates on how the numerous implementations such as entrepreneurship funds, medical subsidies, education and training schemes like SL1M as well as affordable homes such as PR1MA, were all undertaken with the intention of nation building and improving the people's quality of life.

“This is unlike the opposition-run states, with their administration charging land tax of up to 1,671 per cent in Penang and 300 per cent in Selangor,” Najib said.

To further his point, he highlighted how Penang was fraught with scandals like the state chief minister's bungalow case and allegations of corruption in the state's undersea tunnel project.

Najib further stressed that the Barisan Nasional government was consistent in bringing development to the country, as well as ensuring the future of every Malaysian.
