Dr Penguang, who is also Marudi state assemblyman, said he was confident that the Malay voters in Sarawak would continue to play a key role in the coming general election.

“In Marudi, even though the number of Malay voters isn’t big, as the assemblyman, I will not forgo my responsbility in looking out for the interests of the Malay community here,” he said.

He was speaking after attending an event organised by the Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Youth, here on Friday night.

Dr Penguang said the Malay community in Marudi will continue to be given the same level of attention as other ethnic groups even if they do not support Barisan Nasional.

“I will also ensure that the development in Marudi is on the same track as that of other areas. The BN government will always ensure that rural development in Sarawak is continuously improved upon,” he said.
