PPBM files originating summons against RoS seeking declarations on its registration status

KUALA LUMPUR: Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) today filed an originating summons to seek several declarations from the Registrar of Societies (RoS) over the status of the party’s registration.

PPBM secretary-general Datuk Dr Sharuddin Md Salleh filed the summons on its behalf at the High Court Registrar, through Messrs Haniff Khatri.

Among others, PPBM is seeking for a declaration that RoS must adhere to the provisions under the Societies Act 1966 in exercising its function in every aspect related to the governance of PPBM, including handling the complaints related to the party.

The party is also seeking for an injunction for RoS to stop issuing press statements against it until the disposal of the case.

In the summons, the party claimed that since its establishment in September 2016, PPBM had been under the threat of deregistration by RoS for allegedly being non-compliant with the act.
