HULU SELANGOR: Barisan Nasional (BN) is ready to recapture Selangor from the opposition's grasp in the 14th General Election, Hulu Selangor MP Datuk P. Kamalanathan said today.
He said it could happen this time around based on the fighting spirit displayed by party members during the launch of Selangor BN machinery today.
"The fighting spirit (among the BN coalition) is at its peak. The tone is very positive.
"There is eagerness to set aside all internal conflicts and give our all in the political battlefield," Kamalanathan, who is also Deputy Education Minister told reporters at Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan (T) Ladang Batang Kali.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak spent about 30 minutes mingling with pupils, parents and teachers at the school.
Najib was accompanied by Selangor BN chairman Tan Sri Noh Omar, who is also the Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government Minister; Education Minister Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid, and Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr S. Subramaniam.
Najib also checked out the design plan to build a single-classroom kindergarten in SJKT Ladang Batang Kali and visited the construction site.
It was reported that the government would introduce pre-school education in 300 Tamil primary schools nationwide, to provide early childhood education and exposure to the Tamil language.
The federal government was reported to have allocated RM10 million for the first phrase of the project which will involve 50 national-type, Tamil primary schools (SJKT).
The prime minister also presented identification documents including MyKad and birth certificates to 16 Malaysians including young children.
Two of the recipients were brothers, 14-year-old Sarlish and 13-year-old Slylish who had issues getting their MyKad because their parents did not register their marriage.
Their parents have now separated and the two brothers have been under the care of their 66-year-old grandmother R. Amgamah.
"From today, I can have a good sleep because my grandsons' Mykad issues have given me sleepless nights for years.
"I want them to have the best education possible so that they can have a better life and contribute to the society," she said.
Sarlish said he wanted to become a doctor, while his brother Slylish aspires to become a police inspector.
