BN manifesto to target youths: Zahid

BAYAN LEPAS: The welfare of the youths. will be among the main focus in Barisan Nasional’s manifesto for the 14th General Election, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said.

The BN deputy chairman said there were many issues involving youths which should be given due attention by the government to ensure that their future, especially in the next five years, are guaranteed.

He said apart from youths, issues such as housing and cost of living would also be part of the agendas to ensure a more comprehensive manifesto.

I agree with Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin’s suggestion that the youth segment should be the among the theme in our manifesto for the coming general election.

“As those aged 40 and below, and possibly voting for the first time, they may want assurance for the next five years and we will give them just that,” he said in his speech at the Penang 4B alumni dinner last night.

Present were Penang Federal Action Council chairman Datuk Seri Zainal Abidin Osman, 4B Alumni president Tan Sri Mohd Ali Mohd Rustam and Penang 4B Alumni chairman Syed Azmi Ahmad Syed Nazir.

Also, Zahid urged the 4B alumni to bridge the gap between them and the youths of today, who are highly exposed to the world of social media and internet.

“The youths today regard the previous generation as traditional and conventional group, hence there exists a gap.

“As such, the generation of 40 years and above must learn about the social media and internet to understand how they think and to stay relevant.” he added.
