MELAKA: The state legislative assembly speaker Datuk Othman Muhamad today presented the letter on dissolution to the Melaka Election Commission (EC) director Haelmy Mohd Hanifah.
The ceremony to present the letter on the dissolution was witnessed by chief minister and Melaka Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman Datuk Seri Idris Haron.
The letter on the dissolution of the Melaka state assembly was signed by the Yang Dipertua Negeri of Melaka Tun Dr Mohd Khalil Yaakob.
Melaka has 28 state seats and six Parliamentary seats. In GE13, BN formed the state government after winning 21 seats, while DAP won six seats and PAS one seat.
Meanwhile Idris said following the dissolution of the state assembly, the chief minister and state executive councillors would continue to discharge their duties and responsibilities as an interim government to administer the state. — Bernama
