KUALA LUMPUR: DAP had sold itself to former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, said Parti Cinta Malaysia deputy president Datuk Huan Cheng Guan.
He said DAP's willingness to forsake its iconic rocket logo in the 14th General Election in Peninsular Malaysia was proof that Dr Mahathir was the one who called the shots.
"It is safe to say that DAP has pawned its very own rocket logo to Dr Mahathir and allowed him the power to dictate how DAP runs its election campaign.
"Because of Dr Mahathir, DAP can't even use its own logo and this has upset many DAP members and supporters," he said.
He also added that DAP's rocket logo was tainted, corrupted and dirty, no thanks to scandals involving Lim Guan Eng.
Huan noted that DAP Secretary General Lim Guan Eng has been charged in court for allegedly obtaining a bungalow at an undervalued price.
The party, he said, had also been rocked by the multi billion ringgit tunnel scandal, floods and landslides.
He said the people did not trust the rocket logo anymore and this was also why DAP are more than willing not to use itsr logo.
"If it were to contest using the rocket logo they will lose badly," he said.
DAP has been using the logo since it contested in the 1969 General Election.
An online news portal quoted party supremo Lim Kit Siang as confirming that DAP members were unhappy over the party’s decision to drop the logo.
