DAP has betrayed the Malaysian Chinese electorate

KUALA LUMPUR: The DAP had betrayed the Malaysian Chinese electorate, said MCA president Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai.

He said the DAP had done little for the community despite being given the chance for two terms.

"DAP is going all out in trying to wipe out MCA in the coming general election.

"it only goes to show that it does not care about the future of the Chinese community," he said in his speech at the launch of the MCA manifesto for the 14th General Election (GE14), here today at Wisma MCA, near, here.

Liow also took a swipe at DAP for the party’s decision to drop its iconic rocket logo.

DAP had been using the logo since it contested in the 1969 General Election.

Speaking in Mandarin, he told 3,000 party grassroots leaders: "Lao ma cong zheng, huo zen bu jian" (when the old horse returns, the rocket disappears).

Malaysian Chinese commonly refer to former premier Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad as lao ma or old horse, based on the Chinese transliteration of his name.

Dr Mahathir has announced that all four parties in the opposition pact would use the PKR logo in the upcoming GE14.

Liow said DAP bowed to Dr Mahathir, who is also the opposition pact Pakatan Harapan chairman, in order to fish for Malay votes.

"In order to please a certain group of voters, DAP was willing to abandon their long-used rocket symbol and bring their 36 Parliament seats and 95 state seats to lean towards Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and surrender to Dr Mahathir whom they had condemned for 34 years.

"Can you trust this party to protect the rights of the Malaysian Chinese and the dignity of the community?" said Liow.
