Hadi – DAP is a party that fights against Islam

KUALA LUMPUR: As the country awaits the 14th General Election (GE14), Pas president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang has reminded supporters to perform their duties for Islam and to remember the enemies of the Islamist party.

In a special speech broadcasted on his Facebook account today, Hadi reiterated his opinion on DAP, which he described as a party that “fights against Islam.”

He said this while explaining why Pas decided to form its own coalition, Gagasan Sejahtera, and not partner with either Barisan Nasional (BN) or Pakatan Harapan (PH) in facing the upcoming GE14.

“We used to work with BN and after that with (now-defunct) Pakatan Rakyat which includes those who left Umno and those from DAP.

“But we have seen Pakatan Rakyat’s agenda is not in line with Islam. There are also those (in Pakatan Rakyat) who are against Islam openly like DAP.

“…and there are those who are not firm and brave enough to express support for Islam…therefore Pas had to form its own coalition,” he said.

Pakatan Rakyat previously consisted of Pas, PKR and DAP, but the pact broke up when Pas and DAP got into heated arguments about the Islamist party’s proposal to table the hudud-linked bill known as RUU355.

Due to this, Hadi in May 2016 labelled DAP’s action of opposing the bill in the Lower House as “anti-Islam“, “hostile towards Islam” and that DAP “has no manners towards Muslims.”

DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng however denied that his party was anti-Islam. He said the party was only upholding principles of the Federal Constitution.

After the parties parted ways, PKR and DAP formed Pakatan Harapan (PH) along with Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM), and Pas’ splinter, Parti Amanah Negara (PAN).

Expressing delight with the new Gagasan Sejahtera, Hadi said the pact will continue Pas’ struggles to uphold and empower Islam.

“Gagasan Sejahtera not only consists of Pas’ loyal supporters but also non-Muslims who are not against Islam.

“Allah will grant us victory if we continue to put our faith in Islam (beriman). Believe me, we can win,” he added.
