BALIK PULAU: Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad has been told to take responsibility for the jailing of several opposition pact leaders during his tenure as the prime minister.
This came after Dr Mahathir said on television recently that he was not the one who detained the leaders, blaming the police instead.
Among the leaders ere PKR de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Parti Amanah Negara president Mohamad Sabtu.
Datuk Seri Najib Razak told a crowd of some 10,000 people that as the prime minister then, he should know how the system works.
“If the Home Minister does not issue an order, the police will not arrest those leaders.
“I am the prime minister. I know. Enough with the lies,” he said during a "Perhimpunan Pemimpin Bersama Rakyat” here this afternoon.
