Bright chance for MIC to make a comeback in Penang

BUTTERWORTH: MIC hopes to make a breakthrough in Penang in the 14th General Election (GE14) after failing to secure any seats since 2008.

Speaking to newsmen after attending the Indian New Year 2018 celebration in Bagan Dalam here, MIC president Datuk Seri Dr S. Subramaniam said there was a good chance for the party to win the state seat.

Besides Bagan Dalam, MIC is also contesting in the Prai state seat.

“We can see how united the Indians are here.

“Also, Umno has been giving us very good support.

“And with support from other Barisan Nasional component parties, we can secure a sweet victory this coming elections,” he said.

Meanwhile, Dr Subramaniam said MIC’s manifesto, to be unveiled on Wednesday, would benefit all levels of the Indian community.

He said the manifesto was in line with the Malaysian Indian Blueprint which was launched last year.

“We will emphasise on education, job opportunity and entrepreneurship to further proper the community.

“All this is what we hope to achieve in the next five years,” he added.
