Zahid: Lies told often enough become the truth [NSTTV]

BAGAN DATUK: The opposition’s accusations against Barisan Nasional have caused many people to be influenced by their lies, said Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi today.

Zahid, who is also BN deputy chairman, likened the opposition’s tactic to the one used by Joseph Goebbels, who served as German Propaganda Minister in the 1930s and 1940s.

He said lies that were told often enough would become the truth.

“This is what the opposition is doing through their various accusations... their ‘spinning effort’ and recycled (claims) will enter the minds of the people,” he said during a groundbreaking ceremony for Maktab Rendah Sains Mara (MRSM) Bagan Datuk here today.

The Home Minister said the ruling government under the leadership of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak, on the other hand, would always fulfil its promises.

He said BN formulated its 14th General Election (GE14) manifesto based on its ability to fulfil 99.4 per cent of the promises it made during GE13 in 2013.

The promises underlined in the opposition’s manifesto, he added, were unrealistic and could not be fulfilled.

He said the opposition’s promise to abolish the Goods and Services Tax (GST) and the loans of National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN) borrowers would reduce government revenue and lead to financial instability.

Meanwhile, he said the construction of MRSM Bagan Datuk is in line with the government’s goal to produce 125,000 professional huffaz by the year 2050.

He said the school, which will be built at a cost of RM130 million, will be ninth MRSM in Perak.

He said another four MRSM schools will be built in Kedah, Pahang and Kelantan at a combined cost of RM570 million.

Currently, there are a total of 54 MRSM schools nationwide.
