Ironic for Shafie to talk about championing people's needs: Musa

SANDAKAN: Parti Warisan Sabah (Warisan) president is being ironic when he talked about championing people’s needs when Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal failed to do so when he was the Federal minister.

Sabah Chief Minister Tan Sri Musa Aman said Shafie, who was now a puppet of the Tun Mahathir Mohamad-led opposition alliance, was being hypocritical when he suddenly raised issues such as Malaysian Agreement 1963 (MA63).

“He is now working with Mahathir, the very person who failed the people of Sabah for the 22 years he was in office as the Prime Minister by not recognising the significance of Malaysia Day, let alone speak of the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63),” he said at an event here.

Musa said unlike him, when Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak took over office, Najib gave recognition to Malaysia Day on Sept 16 by declaring it a national holiday and called for the Royal Commission of Inquiry on the large presence of immigrants in Sabah.

“Now Shafie wants to find an end to the MA63 issue within a short period of time. He is just trying to fool the people and gain political mileage to chase his dream,” he said.

Musa said when Shafie was the Rural and Regional Development Minister, he was entrusted with a major task to bring more development across the country, including Sabah, but instead the ministry became entangled with a series of mismanagement issues and being oblivious to developments in Sabah.

Musa, at another occasion at his official residence Sri Gaya in Kota Kinabalu this afternoon, met with top leadership of Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS), United Pasokmomogun Kadazandusun Murut Organisation (Upko) as well as Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah (PBRS).

The three Kadazandusun Murut (KDM) parties had agreed to work in unison for the benefit of all in Sabah and the country.

The three parties briefed him on the recent first presidential council meeting outcome, which was also to strengthen unity, understanding and cooperation between them to face the coming election.

The respective party presidents/acting presidents, Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan (PBS), Datuk Seri Panglima Madius Wilfred Tangau (UPKO) and Tan Sri Joseph Kurup (PBRS) had met with Musa who is also Sabah Barisan Nasional Chairman to hand over an official report on the formation of the presidential council.
