New faces submit nomination forms in Bakri

MUAR: All the candidates who showed up at the nomination centre for the Bakri parliamentary constituency, and Bentayan, Simpang Jeram and Bukit Naning state constituencies today are new faces.

The first candidate to submit his nomination form was Barisan Nasional candidate Koh Chon Chai, followed by BN’s Lee Kim Heng at 9.10am. The last to do so was independent candidate for Simpang Jeram, Ahmad Hashim, at 9.59am.

Under a new ruling announced by the Election Commission for the 14th General Election (GE14), candidates have to submit their nomination forms between 9am and 10am.

The Bakri parliamentary seat will see a three-cornered fight involving Koh, Pas candidate Mohammad Zahrul Salleh and Johor-born Damansara Utama (Selangor) incumbent Pakatan candidate Yeo Bee Yin.

BN’s Lee is contesting with Pakatan’s Ng Yak Howe for the Bentayan state seat.

Expect a four-cornered fight for the Simpang Jeram (Sungai Abong) state seat involving Pakatan’s Salahuddin Ayub, Pas’ Dr Mohd Mazri Yahya, BN’s Mohd Radzi Amin and Ahmad.

The four candidates who are vying for the Bukit Naning state seat are Pas’ Azman Ibrahim, BN’s Datuk Hasan Johari, Pakatan’s Md Ysahrudin Kusni and independent candidate Jeganathan Subramaniam.

One candidate, Mohd Faizal Yusak, retracted his nomination form.
