Kapar to have a hospital if BN wins

KLANG: Kapar will have its own hospital if Barisan Nasional (BN) is given the mandate in the 14th General Election.

Kapar BN candidate Datuk Mohana Muniandy Raman said despite being one of the largest parliament constituency in the country, it lacks the basic amenities and facilities, such as a hospital.

The Health Ministry had on April 4 said the construction of Kapar Hospital was announced in 2013, but the plan failed to take off due to the procrastination of the PKR-led state government in approving land ownership grants.

Mohana, who is also MIC Wanita Chief, said she had drafted a comprehensive plan, detailing community and infrastructure developments to be carried out in Kapar in the coming years.

“The people of Kapar have been living in poor condition for the past 10 years. The roads here are in bad shape and not a single leader (from the opposition) has taken the initiative to resolve issues faced by the community here.

“We have set up a 24-hours public service channel known as the ‘Kasih Kapar’ to help solve issues affecting the people. We want to help them in finding solutions.

“Besides that, one of the main agenda in my manifesto is to establish a hospital for Kapar residents. There are some 124,000 constituents here, but we do not have a hospital,” she told reporters after attending the Meru state assembly ‘Ziarah Sayang’ programme in Taman Meru 4, Meru today.

Deputy Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Hilmi Yahaya had said the Health Ministry to date had sent 12 letters to the state government since 2012 but it took the Selangor government more than one year to respond to each letter.

On her preparations towards GE14, Mohana said: “I have an excellent support from Kapar BN. I am also an approachable leader.

“Besides, being a representative of the people is all about serving the people. That is my passion and this spirit is the driving force towards my success,” she said.

On negative remarks made against women candidates on social media, Mohana said it was pointless to think about such issue.

“For me, I do not take any negative remarks on social media personally. They are made (and spread) by irresponsible people.

“The important thing now is to focus on GE14 and think about the benefits and major changes that we could deliver to the people. For instance, I aim to give Kapar a facelift through development. This is my goal and I will not stray from it.”

Present at the programme were BN Wanita Chief Tan Sri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil and BN Meru candidate Khairul Anuar Saimun.

The leaders also spent some time talking with stroke patient Rozita Haman, 49.

The mother of three thanked them for taking their time off their busy schedule to visit her at her house and for their contributions to the family.
