Opposition coalition to remove Dr Mahathir's pictures on its billboards in the state

SEREMBAN: Negri Sembilan DAP chairman Loke Siew Fook said the opposition coalition will remove pictures of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad from all its billboards in the state.

During a Press conference held today, Loke said the removal of Dr Mahathir’s pictures from the coalition’s billboards began last night.

“We have about 70 billboards across the state and 30 of them feature Dr Mahathir’s pictures. The structure of all billboards were set up for a total cost of RM40,000.

“We have received instruction from the Election Commission (EC) to remove Dr Mahathir’s pictures to avoid the billboards from being taken down. We will abide the regulation set by EC because we can’t afford to lose all our campaign material as it will take time to set them up again,” he said.

Also present at the Press conference was PKR central leadership council member Dr Mohamad Rafie Ab Malek and Negri Sembilan opposition coalition chairman Aminuddin Harun.

Loke said he would personally meet Dr Mahathir to apologise on the state coalition’s decision.

He also reminded the public not to associate sabotage element in this matter as the state’s coalition was only following the regulation set by EC.

On the issue surrounding PKR candidate for Rantau state seat, Dr Streram Sinnasamy, who was barred from entering the nomination centre last Saturday, Loke, who is also PKR’s candidate for the Seremban parliamentary seat, said it was up to Streram to proceed with legal action about the incident.

“As far as I know, the court case can only be initiated after the election as an election petition. He can try to file the case if he can get a good lawyer.

“But that’s entirely up to him because the candidate himself must initiate the action,” he said.
