PM: Put people first

KUALA LUMPUR: BARISAN Nasional candidates contesting the 14th General Election have been reminded to always put the people first when campaigning.

BN chairman and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak reminded candidates that everything they did must be for the people, not for personal interests, such as positions or rewards.

He said BN candidates must uphold the main agenda of the party’s campaign, which focused on development and the economy.

“Approach voters and share BN’s vision and mission to make them prosperous in the next five years,” he said in a post on his
blog, www.najib-razak.com, yesterday.

With the impact of social media on the election, Najib said he hoped BN candidates would use the platform wisely to gain support.

“Use social media wisely and do not be like the opposition, which spreads fake news through #TsunamiPHitnah, which can jeopardise the country’s harmony.

“We don’t make false promises, unlike the opposition. We can deliver on what we promise.”

He said every candidate, including himself, had to work hard to get people to be with BN to realise the agenda for a greater Malaysia.

He said he was thankful the nomination process went well even, with many new faces contesting.

He said no BN candidates was dropped, and all had met the requirements of the Election Commission because BN prepared well.

“From this, we can see that BN is not just prepared, but also serious in leading the country, compared with the opposition, which cannot even get the basics right.

“They not only can’t get the basics right, they blamed BN, EC and the police. Playing victim is not new to them. How are they going to run the country?”

On the 327 new faces BN is fielding, he said this showed that the party gave opportunities to new candidates who could help the coalition win.

Najib expressed his appreciation to past candidates who accepted the party’s decision on candidacy and supported new candidates, adding that he was confident their sacrifice would bring victory to the coalition.

He said BN empowered its women candidates, with 85 of them chosen to contest 26 parliamentary and 59 state seats, for the role they played in the coalition’s struggle and for their contributions.

“That is why we appreciate women as #RatuHatiNegaraku.”
