Rahman: Why is Dr M not campaigning in Sabah?

KOTA KINABALU: Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Abdul Rahman Dahlan has once again questioned Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s absence from the opposition’s campaign in Sabah.

Rahman, who is Barisan Nasional’s candidate for the Sepanggar parliamentary seat, said it was the first time someone touted as a prime ministerial candidate was not showing up in Sabah in a general election campaign.

“It is an insult to the people of Sabah.

“How can it be that Dr Mahathir is not coming here to inform the people that he is the prime ministerial candidate?

“Parti Warisan Sabah president Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal needs to be a gentleman and inform this fact to the Kadazandusun Murut, Chinese and Bajau communities.

“Shafie must not hide Dr Mahathir’s nomination as the opposition’s prime ministerial candidate from the people of Sabah.”

Rahman said it was obvious that Warisan did not bring Dr Mahathir to Sabah because Shafie knew the people’s sentiment towards the former prime minister.

Rahman said it was obvious that Dr Mahathir was obsessed with toppling Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak just to elevate his son to the post later.

“Dr Mahathir is willing to be used by DAP, which was his worst enemy, just to achieve what he had set out to achieve.”

On his campaign for the Sepanggar seat, Rahman said people here were more interested in development issues concerning them, rather than listening to controversies surrounding 1Malaysia Development Bhd or the Goods and Services Tax .
