#Showbiz: 'Not the time for my biopic yet' - AR Rahman

KUALA LUMPUR: Indian music maestro AR Rahman feels that it is "not yet time" for the Indian film industry to come up with a biopic about his life and journey.

"Honestly, I think I'm still a junior in the entertainment industry to have one. But if a good filmmaker has already got a biopic in the works, I'd like to thank him and wish him well," said Rahman in a Zoom interview today.

The half-hour interview was held in conjunction with his coming concert, AR Rahman Live In Kuala Lumpur 2024 which will take place at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil at 8pm on July 27.

Rahman admitted that it was "so good to be back" in Malaysia, as Malaysians had always been some of his most loyal, mature and passionate fans.

"That is why I love coming to Kuala Lumpur repeatedly.

"Malaysians embrace diversity and are truly Asia's rainbow nation par excellence," said Rahman who loves visiting Malaysia's night markets as well as the historic city of Melaka.

When asked about the Malaysian artistes who will be joining him in his coming concert, Rahman said that they are "still under wraps" for now.

"If there is one fantastic Malaysian singer I would love to work with repeatedly, the only name I can think of for now is Datuk Seri Siti Nurhaliza. She is truly the Malaysian Queen of Music."

Rahman encouraged Malaysians to come in full force to his new concert as it was "always good to have a live show".

"It is always a lifetime experience to witness a live concert because there is good interaction and the personal touch involved," he said, adding that he was always inspired by great music around him that tugged his heart-strings.

"As for my repertoire, every show at every destination has something different to offer. I always keep in touch with social media to get feedback from fans."

AR Rahman Live In Kuala Lumpur 2024 is organised by Star Planet and promises fans of Rahman more than two hours of non-stop musical magic on the big stage.
