Unlicensed political newspapers spreading fake news, says Zahid

BAGAN DATUK: The Home Ministry will take strict action against political newspapers that spread fake news during the 14th General Election campaigning period.

Its minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said although they were meant for members of certain political parties, such newspapers were easily available to the public.

“I would like to thank all print and electronic media that are helping BN (Barisan Nasional) disseminate the truth.

“But there are people publishing newspapers for (party) members without a permit from the Home Ministry. We will take action after GE14,” he said.

He said this to reporters after attending myPPP’s meet-the-people programme here today.

“These newspapers claim to be ‘for members only’ but I obtained a copy at a shop selling newspapers.

“Make your accusations and manufacture your fake news. After GE14, you will face action and I ‘thank you’ for spreading lies,” he said.
